The Canadians have had surgery on Darwin’s wrist and are expected to return to training camp

Montreal Canadian forward Jonathan Druin underwent season-ending wrist surgery on Friday and is expected to return to the start of the 2022-23 campaign training camp.

The Canadians made the announcement on social media on Saturday after the team’s 3-2 loss to Toronto Maple Leafs.

Darwin had 20 points (six goals and 14 assists) in 34 games this season.

Stee-Agathe, a 27-year-old queer, missed nearly two months due to a wrist injury.

He returned for two games last month until he landed on the Covid-19 protocol as a close contact with someone who tested positive.

Darwin has one more season left for six years, signing a $ 33 million deal when the team acquired him from Tampa Bay Lightning in June 2017.

The Canadians (20-41-11) have already been knocked out of the playoffs and finished in the Eastern Conference.
