MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine national football teams are expected to finish their work at the start of the Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam, after grouping with the defending champions.
Both national squads were slotted in the same group as Vietnam, the reigning champions in both the men’s and women’s events at the SEA Games.
Vietnam, Indonesia and Cambodia are in Group A of the Philippine women’s team.
Laos, Myanmar, Singapore and 2019 silver medalist Thailand are in Group B.

The bronze was lost in the previous edition of the Games after the Filipino women’s butters lost 2-1 to Myanmar.
Vietnam beat Thailand 1-0 in the women’s gold medal match at the 2019 SEA Games in Manila.
In the men’s event, the Under-23s will now compete in Group A of the pool stage with Vietnam, 2019 silver medalists Indonesia, 2019 bronze medalists Myanmar and Timur-Leste and Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia and Singapore in Group B.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.
The 31st SEA Games will be held from May 12 to 23 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
