Cristiano Ronaldo apologized for snatching a mobile phone from a supporter as he left the pitch after Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat to Everton on Saturday.
Footage has surfaced on social media showing the Portuguese star colliding with an Everton supporter as he walked towards the tunnel in Goodison Park.
Ronaldo, 37, wrote on Instagram: “It’s never been easier to deal with emotions in difficult moments like the ones we’ve had.”
“Nevertheless, we must always be respectful, patient and set an example for all young people who love beautiful sports.
“I apologize for my inconvenience and, if possible, invite this supporter to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of fair-play and sport.”
The relegation-threatened Everton United’s poor performance put them seventh in the table, six points behind in the Champions League.
