The Atlanta Hawks matched their doubles with the Brooklyn Nets for the No. 8 play-off seed in the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament on Wednesday night, beating the visiting Washington Wizards 118-103 in Trey Young’s 30-point performance.

Both the Nets (42-38), who beat the New York Knicks 110-98, and the Hawks (42-38), the seventh-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers (43-37), won a half-game with just two games left.

The Wizards (35-45), who won in Minnesota on Tuesday but were knocked out of the play-offs, fell despite a 26-point, 18-rebound knock from Christophe Porzings.

While bouncing back from a 118-108 defeat in Toronto on Tuesday, the Hawks exploded for 40 first-quarter points, including 17 of the last 24 of the period, when Ish Smith held Washington to a 24-23 lead in the eighth minute.

Washington hung 83-79 towards the end of the third quarter, but again Atlanta kept their best for the last time, getting all 12 points from Young – including a pair of 3-pointers – 12-4 on 12-4 bursts.

Shooting for the sixth win in their last eight games, the Wizards have not been close to eight in the last 12 minutes.

Young used -12 accuracy for 11 in the free-throw line as the basis of his 34th 30-point game of the season. He also found time for a Game-High 11 Assists, completing his 41st double-double of the year, his 20th with at least 30 points.

Danilo Galinari backed his star teammate by racking up 26 points and 10 rebounds with a 4-for-7 shooting from a 3-point range. Hawks outscored the Wizards 48-30 from outside the arc.

Clint Capella Chip with 19 points, Bogdan Bogdanovich 18 and D’Andre Hunter 10 for the Hawks, who finished the regular season on two roads, touring Miami on Friday and Houston on Sunday.

Porzingis’ double-double connects four of Washington’s 10 3-pointers.

Washington’s Corey Kispert and Daniel Gafford added 12 points. The Wizards have another chance to play in the play-off-position spoiler as they end the season in Charlotte on Sunday after a home game against New York on Friday.
