NBA: The Celtics beat the Bulls for their 50th win

Jillian Brown scored 25 points and Jason Tatum added 16 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists to give the visiting Boston Celtics a 117-94 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday.

Brown, who has 10 shots from 21 from the floor, has scored at least 25 points in each of his last 10 games.

Al Harford made seven of his shots – three from the 3-point range – and finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Daniel Thiss scored 15 points before being fouled by the Celtics (50-30), who reached the 50-win plateau for the first time since the 2017-18 season.

Boston, who have won three of their last 16 games in a row and 14 in a row, are only second in the Eastern Conference, half-game ahead of the Lazy Milwaukee Box and the Philadelphia 76ers. Celtics inspect the box on Thursday.

Boston has benefited from a quick start and has finished by shooting 48.9 percent off the floor, including 45.9 percent (17 of 37) from the 3-point range.

DeMar DeRozan scored 15 of his 16 points in the first half for the Bulls (45-35), who have lost three of their last 20 games in a row and 14 of them. Chicago is 1.5 games behind fifth-ranked Toronto Raptors.

Nikola Vucevic had 13 points and seven rebounds, while Zach missed seven of nine shots from the LaVine floor – five of which ended with seven points from the 3-point range.

In the presence of former President Barack Obama, the Celtics kept their best foot and made 12 of their first 18 shots from the floor and took a 31-14 lead with 2:27 remaining in the first quarter.

Thes scored 13 points in 8 of 8 shots from the floor, with Brown, Tatum and Harford each leading Boston to 67-51 at halftime with 11 points each. The Celtics fired 57.8 percent from the floor (26 out of 45), forcing 20 assists and 10 turnovers.

Boston extended its lead to 26 points after tipping a bucket of brown paint towards the end of the third quarter.

The Celtics took control of the cruise from there.
