The Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadians will give their two college prospects a first taste of NHL action on Saturday.
Leeds head coach Sheldon Keefe has confirmed that Nick Abruzz will make his NHL debut against the Philadelphia Flyers. The former Harvard forward decided to skip his final season in college in favor of a two-year entry-level deal with Toronto.
Abruzzi skated in the fourth line with Colin Blackwell and Wayne Symonds during team practice on Friday.
Meanwhile, Canadian coach Martin St. Louis has announced that Jordan Harris will be in the lineup for his first NHL game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Montreal signed a two-year, entry-level deal with Harris on March 26.
The 21-year-old from Haverhill, Mass., Has captained Northeastern University Huskies in 38 games – 20 points – five goals and 15 assists – in his senior year. Harris was also named Hockey East Conference’s best defensive defender and was named to the All-Conference’s first team this season.
He was drafted by Canadians in 2019 in the third round, the 71st overall.
