MANILA, Philippines – Former boxing world champion Milan Melindo is returning to the ring when he collided with Chris Omayao on Saturday in the main event of the Golpe de Valiantes card at the Southern City Colleges Arena in Zamboanga City.

The 34-year-old Melindo, a former IBF World Light Flyweight titleist, is returning from a two-year eight-round cut against Omayo, whose fight included a fourth-round knockout rate in 2012 against Nawa Inouye.

Anthony Marseille, a cousin of Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Yumi Marcel, sees action against Edward Mansito in eight more rounds of bouts on cards hosted by ZC Kings Promotions and Zamboanga Valiantes.

Conrado Tanamore, the brother of Olympian Harry Tanamore, also fought John Sabelina in six rounds.

According to promoter Juni Navarro, for the first time in three years, a boxing match is being staged in Zamboanga.

“Zamboanguenora is eager to see the rising stars of the city who will try to follow in the footsteps of Marshall, Tanamore and the Sultan. In the early days, tickets were almost sold out, “said Navarro, who is the manager of WBO Intercontinental Champion Jonas Sultan. Celeste Flores-Colina
