The Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday bought outfielder Bradley Zimmer from the Cleveland Guardians for right-handed pitcher Anthony Castro.
Zimmer had eight homers and 35 RBIs in 99 games with the .227 / .325 / .344 slash line with Cleveland last season.
The 29-year-old from San Francisco, who was drafted 21st overall by Cleveland in 2014, averaged his lifetime batting average of .225 in five seasons.
Castro, who arrived in Toronto with a waiver claim in December 2020, posted 1-2 records, 32 strikeouts and a save in 25 games in his solo season with the Blue Jays last year.
The Blue Jays began their 2022 campaign by hosting the Texas Rangers at their home opener at the Rogers Center on Friday. You can watch the game on SportsNet starting at 7 pm ET.
