Raleigh, NC (AP) Frederick Andersen made 32 saves for the fourth shutout of the season, Andrei Svechenkov scored twice and the Carolina Hurricanes dominated the Montreal Canadians 4-0 on Thursday night.
Sebastian Aho and Tevo Teravainen each had one goal and one assist as the Hurricanes extended their points streak to six games with their third win in the last four outings.
“I think we wanted to play a whole game and I thought we did,” Anderson said.
Tony de Angelo and Jacob Slavin both assisted on two goals.
Anderson faced 14 shots in the third period, when Hurricane hit three penalties. By then the hurricane was under control.
Coach Rod Brind’Amour said he liked the way Carolina set the tune and Anderson grew up when needed.
“We haven’t given up much,” said Brind Amor. “There was a breakup in the first period.”
Some of Carolina’s good work came in the last minute, before Svetnikov’s second goal went into an empty net before blocking Montreal’s extra skater and pushing him to 200 career points in 270 games.
“If you look at it, he probably should have had more,” said Brind’Amor. “She’s getting a lot of blank-nets so she’s doing make-up for those stretched parts when it’s not going to be for her.”

The Canadians have vacated for the fifth time this season, the last coming December 30 against Carolina in the same building. Jake Allen stopped 40 shots for Montreal, winning only once in his last six games (1-3-2).
Hurricanes held 42-18 edges in shots for two periods.
“We’re a little surprised at how aggressive they really are,” said Nick Suzuki, a Canadian senator. “We didn’t have time to act.”
Aho scored the first goal in a power play at 3:48. Thirteen of Ahora’s team-high 31 goals came in the power play – the most in a man-made situation for a Carolina player in a dozen years.
Svechennikov worked his way up to the front of the net and was there to guide Allen to the Pak Pak with 11.2 seconds left in the start.
Teravinen scored at 12:43 in the second period for his first goal in 12 games, although he owns a six-game point streak.
“They work to the best of their ability,” Allen said. “That’s the culture in their team.”
Canadian crush
The Hurricanes have beaten Montreal 12-1 in three meetings this season. Carolina has won 13 of the last 18 games in the series (13-3-2).
Brutal stretch
Montreal will play three of the top four teams in the Eastern Conference this week in terms of points. It was in the middle of a matchup with Florida, Carolina and Tampa Bay.
“We knew this tour was going to be tough for us,” Allen said. “Find a way to improve on this trip and realize what it takes to be one of the best teams in the league. It’s probably the hardest way to travel in hockey. “
Suzuki said the three teams had earned their status: “They have to find a way to win the game and we have to learn how to do it.”
Martinuk’s return
Left winger Jordan Martinuk is back in the Hurricanes lineup after a seven-match absence with a lower body injury. He drew the first penalty of the game to set the Carolina Power-Play goal.
“That’s the decent thing to do, and it should end there.” “He was out, so it’s good that he brought that strength to the team.”
